WHY READ THIS BOOK?
In Hoot by Carl Hiaasen, we meet Roy Eberhardt, who has just moved from Montana to Florida—a place that doesn’t look or feel like home. He will encounter schoolyard bullies as well as the grown-up sort of bully in this tale where a pancake restaurant chain goes head-to-head with a teenage defender of burrowing owls.
We recommend this literature guide for approximately 6th grade and up. Do note that there are minor instances of bad/rude language from some characters in the book.
