The Bible’s Story: An Adventure Through the Ages

In this 11-lesson unit study, you will get to explore the history of the Bible, from long before any words were written on a scroll, to our own era in history, when dozens of Bible translations are available on our smartphones. The themes of language and technology are traced over the course of thousands of years as we discover how these themes played a role along the Bible’s journey through history.

This study consists of a scripted Teacher’s Guide that you can read aloud to your children, along with a student workbook. In the Teacher’s Guide, you’ll find the text for each lesson, along with recommended books, songs, and websites that go along with the topics of each lesson. You will also receive a student notebook file, which contains all the student activity pages, usually about 3 pages per lesson. These activity pages tie the history of the Bible into topics like ancient languages, English grammar, theology, and more!

This course was written with homeschooling families in mind, and is targeted at the upper-elementary through middle-school age student. However, it could also be used by church classes, and could even be used by high school students as well (I don’t claim that it’s a high school-level course, simply because the workload is not heavy enough to be deemed a for-credit course in high school. The subject matter would certainly be new and interesting to many high school students!)

You don’t have to be a scholar who has researched the history of the Bible in order to be able to teach your kids about where this book came from. I hope that this resource will make the history of the Bible more fascinating and approachable for your whole family! If you’d like to learn more, you can watch this video to hear about the background behind why we created this study, and to catch a glimpse inside of some of the pages.
